Episode 67 - The Magical Music of the Deer Head Inn

There’s a magic hotel in the Pocono Mountains. The magic does not come from casting spells or drinking potions – but from a steady stream of jazz musicians who call it home. For over seventy-five years, the Deer Head has offered jazz in a well-worn listening room. Some of the luminaries who have played there include Phil Woods, Bob Dorough, John Coates Jr., Keith Jarrett, Dave Liebman, Sherrie Maricle, and Pat Metheny. It’s an astonishing place and our co-hosts tell you about it.

Incidental music on this episode was recorded live at the Deer Head Inn and shared from the Presbybop Library. For more information on the Deer Head Inn, visit the web site at https://deerheadinn.com/. Better yet: make a pilgrimage there and enjoy the music!
